The Body Positivity Series: The Influencers

It can be easy to forget to be kind to yourself while scrolling through the face-tuned models of Instagram and being bombarded with ads for the latest workouts and meal plans that will give you the body of your dreams. It’s important to remember that everybody is different and we should appreciate our bodies for all that they do for us. Most people don’t look like the actors and models we see on TV, and many of the influencers you follow are photoshopping the photos they post to fit society’s idea of ‘perfect.’

You can start to change your own narrative by surrounding yourself with resources that make you feel good about yourself! Fill your feed with content you feel good about and unfollow the accounts that make you feel like you’re not enough. Take time in your day to step away from social media and listen to an educational podcast or read a book that inspires you.

I’ve put together a series of blog posts featuring my favorite books, podcasts and influencers that are spreading the message of self-love and body positivity.

The Influencers - Today I am sharing the Instagram accounts you should be following! Get inspired by the messages that these body positive women and men are sharing.

The Body Positive is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help people develop balanced, joyful self-care and a relationship with their bodies that is guided by love, forgiveness, and humor. They share inspirational quotes and stories that will leave you feeling good.

Part of their vision is to redefine the word beautiful so that it can no longer be defined by terms such as weight, height or skin color. Their Instagram feed features raw, unfiltered, real women.

I weigh is a community founded by British actor, host, writer and activist, Jameela Jamil as a safe and radically inclusive space on social media. The account is filled with positive insights and stories of inclusivity.

I love this account! Celeste Barber is an actor, comedian and writer who has found a way to poke fun at the modelling and influencing world by hilariously recreating celeb’s and model’s content with her own body positive spin. She reminds me not to take myself or the way I look too seriously.

Allison is a mom and Self Love Expert who loves the beach. She says her calling in life is to educate, empower, and equip all of womankind to be independent, fierce, self-loving women that are ready to run their life….and this world. I love her style tips and advice for building body confidence!

This account curates art, quotes and stories that will remind you not to be so hard on yourself every time you scroll by their content in your feed.

Jules Von Hep describes himself as a celebrity tanning expert, lover of individuality, giver of glows, champion of body confidence and pioneer of feel good. His content is silly, relatable and is sure to make you smile.

Shira is an eating disorder therapist and body positive style blogger. Not only does she share her incredible outfits from the streets of New York, but she’s also spreading messages of positivity and self love.

Stephanie is a super chic plus-size style blogger, large body acceptance advocate, freelance writer, public speaker. Get inspired by her fierce looks and her body positivity messages.
